What to expect

Founded in 864, the Monnaie de Paris is the oldest French institution and the last operating factory in the capital. Its exceptional neoclassical building houses both a royal palace and a modern factory. A true showcase of French know-how, its activity is not limited to minting current currency (even if the Paris Mint has always minted French currency, from the Statère gaulois to the Euro). In its Parisian workshops installed since 1775 on the left bank of the Seine, at 11 quai de Conti, no less than 150 craftsmen work to create medals, jewelry, art fonts, or decorations such as the insignia of Chevalier de l'Ordre de la Légion d'Honneur.
After six years of work, this historic site opened its doors to the public in September 2017. Through a playful and multisensory journey, the new 11 Conti Museum invites you to live a unique experience around metal, know-how and exceptional collections and treasures.
Temporary exhibitions of contemporary art, installed in the historical rooms of the palace, regularly echo this permanent route.
