What to expect

Created at the end of the 18th century, the Ménagerie du Jardin des Plantes is one of the oldest zoos in the world. Located in the 5th arrondissement of Paris, it showcases 1,200 animals, including mammals, birds, invertebrates, and reptiles. Among its notable residents are kangaroos, orangutans, and snow leopards. However, visitors come to the Ménagerie not only to get a closer look at its wild species but also to admire the remarkable architecture of the animal enclosures. Highlights include the Herpetology Gallery, nicknamed the Palace of Reptiles, and the monkey house. To avoid the crowds, it's best to book your entry ticket in advance via ticketeaser.com.
