The first tourist site of Charente-Maritime, the Aquarium La Rochelle, offers you the opportunity to enjoy a unique journey to dream and understand the sea. Located in the heart of the city, facing the Old Port, the complex is home to more than 12,000 animals belonging to 600 species. This exceptional diversity makes the aquarium one of the largest hubs of marine biodiversity in Europe.

Open every day:
October to March: 10:00 am to 8:00 pm
April to June: 9:00 am to 8:00 pm
July and August: 9:00 am to 11:00 pm
September: 9:00 am to 8:00 pm
Last entry 1 hour 30 minutes before closing.

Aquarium La Rochelle Itinerary
Aquarium La Rochelle is one of the largest private aquariums in Europe. During your visit, the itinerary consists of several themes: Atlantic, Mediterranean, Jellyfish and Oceanic, Caribbean, Indo-Pacific, sharks, turtles, tropical forest, children's journey, and the gallery of lights.
You will encounter blacktip sharks, jellyfish, clownfish, turtles, seahorses... more than 12,000 marine species, each one more astonishing than the last.
For children, signage is specially designed with small drawings and other educational games.
Insider Tip
Aquarium La Rochelle is ideally located in the city center, facing the Old Port. Not far from there, you will find the Tours de La Rochelle, towering medieval fortifications not to be missed.
