What to expect

At the heart of an old quarry in the forest of Guédelon, a fabulous project was born, a dream of a child and of history lovers. For several years, medieval enthusiasts have been rebuilding a castle according to the practices of the 13th century. Would you like to discover the secrets of medieval everyday life? Guédelon is made for you!

On site, no staging. Loggers, bricklayers, masons and quarrymen collaborate throughout the year in a very real construction logic. Protectors of our architectural heritage, they enhance the value of stone and wood to reveal the mysteries of ancient builders. Set in a wooded estate of 7 hectares, Guédelon is divided into three distinct areas: the forest and its mill, the medieval village and the castle construction site. The ideal place to dive into the heart of our history and learn from true enthusiasts.
