What to expect

Immersion in Ancient Egypt

The exhibition "The Egypt of the Pharaohs" at Atelier des Lumières in Paris, open from February 9, 2024, to January 5, 2025, offers an immersive experience in the history of Ancient Egypt. Using multimedia projections, it brings the grandeur and mystique of ancient Egypt back to life.

Historical Discoveries

The exhibition begins with an evocation of the discoveries made by French scientists during the Egyptian Campaign from 1798 to 1801. It highlights the first impressions of Ancient Egypt through the remnants and drawings of artist David Roberts, accompanied by historical quotes.

Daily Life and Pyramids

The exhibition journey takes visitors along the Nile, revealing everyday life in ancient Egypt through bas-reliefs, paintings, and papyri. The construction of the pyramids is spectacularly portrayed, with colossal blocks stacking up to form the tombs of kings, under the watchful eye of the majestic Sphinx.

The Pharaohs

Pharaohs take center stage in the exhibition, with representations of historical figures such as Khafre, Hatshepsut, Thutmose III, Akhenaten, Nefertiti, and Ramses II. Mythical battles, like Ramses II's Battle of Kadesh, are also highlighted.

Temples and Tombs

An important aspect of the exhibition is the presentation of Egyptian temples, from Luxor to Abu Simbel, illustrating their role as cultural, spiritual, economic, and political centers. The Valley of the Kings and the Valley of the Queens, with their colorful tombs, are also emphasized, notably the tombs of Tutankhamun and Nefertari.

The Afterlife

The exhibition concludes with an immersive journey into the afterlife, symbolized by the astronomical ceiling of Dendera, which is usually 15 meters high but visually accessible here.

Musical Ambience

The experience is enhanced by carefully curated music and sound mixing, contributing to the immersive atmosphere of the exhibition. "The Egypt of the Pharaohs" is a production by Culturespaces Digital, with artistic direction by Virginie Martin and production by Cutback.
