What to expect
No less than 1,500 rooms and bedrooms, 130 hectares of impeccably maintained parks and gardens, eight centuries of continuous occupation by the most prestigious kings and queens in the history of France... No doubt, the royal castle of Fontainebleau is the monument of all superlatives!
Located in Seine-et-Marne and in the immediate vicinity of Paris, Fontainebleau constitutes one of the best examples of Renaissance style architecture in the region, and is full of curiosities to discover or rediscover with the family. Appreciated by Napoleon, the castle has notably preserved the emperor's throne as well as a majestic portrait of the Empress Joséphine. In addition to Queen Marie-Antoinette's bed, which predates the French Revolution, you can also observe more recent apartments dating back to the Second Empire and Napoleon III.
