What to expect

Set in the heart of historic Toulouse is the Musée des Augustins, housing the Museum of Fine Arts of Toulouse. Prior to the French Revolution, the building was an Augustinian convent which is deserving of a visit in its own right. This means you're discovering two attractions at once. On the one hand there's the vast permanent collections of the museum, with some 4,000 works on display: a collection of paintings and sculpture from the Middle Ages to the early 20th Century. On the other, there's the architecture of the convent, with its cloister and Gothic church, with brickwork that reminds the visitor that you're in the heart of the pink city that is Toulouse. Also on offer are playful writing workshops, suitable for all ages, and story-telling tours of selected exhibits, to make the art come more fully to life.
