What to expect
From September 2018 to January 2019, the Musée d'Orsay hosts an exhibition event, presenting hundreds of paintings, drawings and sketches by Pablo Picasso from 1900 to 1906. Originally from Spain but settled in Paris in 1901, the young painter is fascinated by the nightlife of the capital, the streets of Montmartre, the dancers of the Moulin Rouge but also the misery of the working classes. If a great melancholy dominates the works of the blue period, those of the pink period, from 1904 to 1906, reflect a renewed joie de vivre and give great importance to the female nude. It is the first time that these two periods of the painter are put in the spotlight by a French museum. For this occasion, the Musée d'Orsay has obtained exceptional loans for works from American museums.
